Safe working procedures and outdoor activities for young people
Day 1
- 12:00 Arrival – Set up campsite – Lunch
- 13:00 Camp orientation, organisation and hygiene
- 13:30 Safe use of basic cutting tools and UK knife law
- 15:00 Tea break
- 15:30 Fire lighting skills, safety, feather sticks, fire lays and storm kettles
- 17:30 Evening meal – camp tidy – Free time
Day 2
- 09:00 Start – Knots and cordage
- 10:00 Shelter construction – site selection and safety, types of shelter
- 12:30 Lunch
- 13:00 Shelter construction – as above
- 15:00 Tea break
- 15:30 Primitive weapons – Make a modern version of a throwing stick
- 16:30 Fire wood collection and prep for evening fire
- 17:00 Evening meal
- 18:30 Enjoy evening meal – camp tidy – Free time
Day 3
- 09:00 Start -Water collection and purification from a woodland environment
- 10:00 Tarp shelters
- 12:00 Lunch
- 12:30 Group safety bag and contents
- 13:00 Safe campfire cooking for young people
- 13:30 Select and set up a safe campsite for a group – make a hot drink (Test)
- 15:30 Break camp – clear site – LEAVE NO TRACE
- 16:00 Course review
- 16:30 Leave site with new skills
This weekend or mid-week training course is a basic introduction to bushcraft skills. The aim of the course is to enable you to learn new outdoor skills to a competent standard to pass on these skills to young people in a safe and challenging way.
Cost £295 per person, min number of students 4, max 10
This course is self catering. Water, tea and coffee are provided
